Students with Reading Difficulties (OHRC)

Recently there has been many tweets on ‘Ontario Human Rights Commission Executive Summary’.

What is new in that summary? NOTHING!

Is there anything in the summary that has not been said before? NOTHING!

The term used by them is ‘Students with reading difficulties’.

Elsewhere they have terms such as:

i.                     At risk children

ii.                   Unskilled readers

iii.                 Child with special education needs

iv.                 Etc.

The National Organisation for Dyslexia AND Dyslexia Association

In my article on 3.11.2018 in response to The National Organisation for Dyslexia Malaysia’s (NOD) article in the Star Online dated 4.10.2018 I had said;

"New learning builds on previous learning. The kids who are prone to shutting down cannot transfer what they have newly learned unless they truly understand what they are learning and connect them with what they have learned."

The president of NOD, Dr. Mullai A Ramniah, did not respond.

Dyslexia or shut down kids (Part 2)

Please read my last post before reading this post.

My comments are based on an article from Houston Chronicle.

“They’ll argue that one answer to our nation’s reading crisis may be in plain sight.”

My comment: Yes, one answer to the world’s reading crisis is in plain sight but who is listening to what I have been writing since 2010.

I was the first person in the world to challenge the 40 years old theory that 'Phonological awareness deficit ' is the cause of 'Dyslexia'.

Dyslexia or shut down kids?

Here is something I read in the internet this morning. You may read the whole article here:

Here are some extracts from the article above with my comments.

Dyslexia is believed to affect one in every five people.
But dyslexia is not a hopeless affliction, as once believed. Scientists can observe its effects through brain scans as easily as they can observe a tumor.

My comment: Stop! Think! Is it really possible that one in five – 20% of the population of the world is dyslexic? What is dyslexia anyway?
