The people with a vested interest have been conning the world with many things that people swallow hook line and sinker.
One thing teachers/researchers/parents have believed and is difficult for me to convince otherwise is teaching letter sounds with extraneous sounds. This is perpetrated by the big boys in many ways including teaching kids the wrong sounds of letters broadcast, purportedly for toddlers, in more than 100 countries.
