I have listed the other reasons in my book Shut Down Kids which no one has disputed. But the root cause is teaching sounds represented by letters wrongly.

That is interesting. That's the first time I've heard this perspective. Is this specific to Malaysia, where English is not always the native language? Or is this generalized to native speakers learning in the USA?
I'm very interested in broadening my horizons a bit.
Thanks for the dialogue!
NOTE: Why is this even a question raised? What is difficult in getting teachers to teach kids the correct pronunciation of consonants? If this will solve reading problems then this is what should be done.
If a kid is limping these people suggest getting better shoes and everything else except pulling out the thorn under his foot.

This is not specific to Malaysia. This is true for all countries.
The link I provided is that of a kid in Australia whose mother is an accomplished teacher.
All I needed was for the kid to sound out the letters to me. Listening to the recording I told the mother I could get him to read. LINK
NOTE: Teachers everywhere are teaching kids letter sounds with extraneous sounds. When kids predisposed to shutting down disengage from learning to read, they are classified as dyslexic. I requested Ethan to listen to the sounds of the letters by kids who can’t read in grade 4. Let us see what he finds out.

I have already done this. I have been shouting at the top of my voice but who is listening?
