Luqman Michel vs Astro, BabyTv (Part 2)

The above is the episode on Astro and Unifi that I know will cause kids to shut down. I have explained as to why kids shut down in my blog posts as well as in my book.
On 12th September, 2018 I sent a lengthy email to Astro where I explained why kids shut down from learning to read. I requested Astro to use what I had discovered on why kids shut down to do a programme to reduce illiteracy. I recommended them to get a copy of my book from the internet.
Here are the main points stating that many kids shut down from learning to read because of wrong teaching of sounds.

i.                     These kids shut down or disengage from learning to read because they had been taught the phonemes or sounds of alphabets wrongly.
ii.                   However, they cannot read in English because of confusion as a result of wrong teaching by well-meaning teachers who do not know how to teach the sounds of the alphabets in the English language.
iii.                So, what is the reason for kids being unable to read in English but are able to read in Malay and Han Yu Pin Yin?
The reason is that kids are confused and therefore shut down or disengage from learning to read in English. No amount of encouragement can get these kids to read unless their confusion is cleared.
iv.                 The answer to the questions above is that about 30% of kids shut down from learning to read when they are confused due to the wrong teaching of alphabet sounds.
v.                   I would be grateful if Astro will help in reducing illiteracy. Astro may consider a programme to Share ideas from my book with your listeners.

Thank you, Ms.Haja,
Yes, I have a complaint to make about one of your programmes that does a disservice to kids in Malaysia.

It is exactly what I have mentioned in my book as to why many kids cannot read in English.

Let us do this one thing at a time.
I will wait for the response from the 'relevant department' first.

Wish you well,
Luqman Michel

I will complain about this to higher authorities and write in my blog about the

HI Luqman,

We got to know from customer service (WeCare) that you were trying to reach us, and have some feedback on regards to  our education content on our channel, as per below message.
We are from GenNext department and I have also pulled in my colleague Sharifah Noraidah, who previously managed our education content/channels before I took over in March.
May we know what is the feedback or specific complain that you have, and which programme and which learning channel you’re referring to?
 Thanks
Razlin

Dear Nur Amrina,
Thank you for your response.

Yes, I have written to Baby TV and they too have not acted promptly.

I have been working on reducing illiteracy since 2004 and take this matter very seriously.

I have written to your CEO yesterday and expect a response by next week before I
proceed with my next course of action.

Your production team should consider getting a few teachers to read my book and produce a programme so that illiteracy will be reduced.

Kind regards,
Luqman Michel

Here is a comment from a teacher friend from the US- "Very good article Luqman. Yes, almost every kid can learn to read English with a solid phonics program with letter sounds and rules taught in the right way."

"I love the way the author wrote the article."
