LinkedIn Discussion – Explicit targeted instruction

Here is a discussion on LinkedIn last month.

I was sure there will be a lot of discussion as this post was by an Educational Consultant.

Lynn Givens an Educational Consultant, Developer of Reading Intervention Program, posted the following photo on LinkedIn and made the following comment:

The Dyslexia Scam

I have taught more than 70 kids since 2004 on a one on one basis. Many of them were certified as dyslexic by some experts in Singapore and even from Australia.

After a few years of teaching, I realised that they were all shut down kids and did not fit into the dyslexia description on the internet.

Here is an email to Hon. Betsy DeVos the Secretary of education in the USA.

I wrote one email in May and another in June 2018 and received the same reply stating that it was being passed to the relevant officers and that was the end. 

How do we expect the reading standards to improve with such attitude from the Education Department?

Phonics advocates keep saying that phonics is being taught in schools.

In fact, only a few schools, even in the UK, are teaching phonics the way it ought to be taught. Otherwise, the UK will not be no 14 in the PISA test and far behind China.

YouTube videos on why kids shut down from learning to read

Kids shutting down and kids being not fluent in reading are not synonymous. The roughly 20% who are classified as dyslexic are the kids I refer to as shut down kids. The dyslexia advocates simply classify them as dyslexic for their own benefit. From my research, I believe the number of kids who are dyslexic is less than one (1) % of the population.

China vs the USA

I have been writing to the Caucasian countries since 2010 on how to eradicate illiteracy. The egos of the so-called educators from these countries have made them blind to what they have been seeking for, in the last few decades.

Egona virus

There is a virus that has been going around the US for decades which has spread around the world. It appears to affect Caucasian Educators more than others.


The virus is called the Egona virus.

An arrogant educator from Australia - Dr David Zyngier

Here are tweets from another arrogant educator from Australia who thinks he knows everything there is to know about education. Many of the Caucasian educators from Australia are as arrogant as many from the US and the UK.

I, Luqman Michel, have thought and seen what no one else in the world has seen or thought. The Caucasians have a problem even understanding it.

There has been tweets by Jeff Bowers on Tweeter for a few days on his response to Jennifer Buckingham’s post entitled: “The grass is not greener on Jeffrey Bowers’ side of the fence: Systematic phonics belongs in evidence-based reading programs”.

This is another example of what these so-called educators write on without knowing what they are talking about.
