Finally, an intelligent question - Chicken or the egg

 

I telephoned someone on some important matter and after that was settled he asked me a point-blank question:

The book – Teach Your Child to Read – was published only recently yet the testimonial is dated before the publication, please explain.

Those who have been following my blog will not have asked that question. Anyway:

I wrote more than 100 articles since 2010 disagreeing with the more than 35-year-old theory that phonological awareness deficit is the cause of dyslexia. That theory was debunked in 2017. You may read some of the articles in 2010 by Googling.

Then, in 2018 I wrote a book, Shut Down Kids, detailing all the causes of dyslexia (kids being unable to read). I have since then maintained that if we get rid of the causes stated in my book there will be no child left behind. I am told that my ideas are too simplistic and yet no one has come up with alternative causes for kids disengaging/ shutting down from learning to read.

In 2019, I printed 100 books as the chairman of the Rotary Community Corps of Bukit Padang with the help of the President of the Rotary club of Luyang, Kenneth OiKuwang, who managed to defray part of the cost by getting a few advertisements.

With the help of the Rotary Club of Luyang we gave talks in a few kindergartens and primary schools and distributed the books free of charge to most participants.

I also sent a copy of the book to a teacher in Perth who photocopied it and distributed it to her students to teach kids to read. Here is a video of the teacher and 2 of her students teaching kids to read. LINK

In October 2020 I uploaded updated lessons on my blog. The lessons were first uploaded in 2010.

Many parents visited my blog and are still visiting my blog for the free lessons.

In December 2020 a distraught mother/teacher from Australia Tweeted that she needed help with her son who despite having gone for a specialised Systematic Synthetic Phonics class for 1 year was still unable to read. I asked her to use my lessons and she did and the discussion between her and me is on my blog. LINK

Another recipient of my book is Mr. Huang Pho Lo who used the book to teach his grandson who had difficulty reading.

Earlier this year before my book was published a grandma in California who was happy with how my lessons helped her 2 grandchildren asked me to dispatch 3 sets of my book to her. It was this grandma who gave the testimonial which is now in question. LINK

It was the grandma’s request for the hard copies that made me decide to publish the book.

I hope this clarifies why the testimonials were dated prior to the publication of my book.
