I responded as follows:

You are barking up the wrong tree.

 I have been shouting at the top of my voice that the main reason kids leave school as illiterates is confusion as a result of being taught sounds of letters with extraneous sounds. It has nothing to do with Lucy's curriculum.

I am a clinician with 38 years of experience as a reading teacher for students with dyslexia.

Blind obedience to Lucy Calkin's program and administrators' lack of knowledge about how the brain learns to read led to the quagmire of hundreds of thousands of children across the globe who did not learn to read.

 

Note: Teaching the same thing again and again for 38 years and expecting different results is insanity.

This woman is blaming the administrator’s lack of knowledge about how the brain learns to read. Does she or anyone else know how the brain learns to read? I request her to read my post at LINK and see if she can answer any of the questions I have asked.

She said, ‘Administrator mandated the use of these materials’, then why is she not taking action against the administrators?

Look at the way she exaggerates by saying ‘hundreds of thousands of children across the globe’ did not learn to read because of Lucy Calkins’s curriculum. This proves she did not read my post linked to my comment.

She is another one of those who doesn’t read the links attached and shoots from the hip. Where is her answer to the questions I asked in my post? LINK
